What should I upload?
A ZIP (or 7z, RAR, ISO, floppy image...) containing the files you want rescued. Sub-folders are fine and are preserved in the result.
What happens to each file?
Every file is identified from its bytes. Legacy formats we can convert are converted to their best modern equivalent (documents to PDF, spreadsheets to XLSX, images to PNG, video to MP4, databases to XLSX, mailboxes to EML). Modern files and anything we cannot convert are copied unchanged, and the report explains how to open them.
How long does it take?
Most files take a second or two; LibreOffice documents and video take longer. A 200-file folder typically finishes within a few minutes. Keep the page open, or come back to the same URL within 3 hours.
Are there limits?
500 MB per upload and 300 files per job while Drive Rescue is in beta. Split larger drives into several ZIPs.
